From Humble Beginnings

Michael Jordan was born in Brooklyn, New York, on February 17, 1963. He was the fourth of five children born to Deloris and James Jordan. His father was a mechanic and his mother worked in a bank. The Jordan family lived in a modest home in Wilmington, North Carolina. Michael Jordan began playing basketball at a young age. He was a natural athlete and quickly developed a passion for the game. He spent hours practicing in his driveway and at the local YMCA. Michael Jordan's hard work paid off. He was a star player on his high school basketball team and led them to two state championships.
